I too think the Burns was first ... but I'm also prepared to be proved wrong!!

I wouldn't buy a Burns because I don't like the sound- sorry, but instantly I heard the beginning of the first track you can tell it's a Burns, not as smooth, almost subtly like a banjo without that characteristic sound you get from a Strat having a floating bridge. Listening to the second version confirms it without doubt. Hey, hope I'm not wrong...

An interesting comparison would be between a Les Paul played at the bridge clean and a Strat. Mostly you'd tell them apart, but not always.

I suppose it depends on how closely you've studied the sound of a Strat to some extent and how much comparison with other guitars have been made. At the end of the day nothing sounds quite like a Strat...usually...
