Theme from the Boys, this is a new mix with a re-recorded guitar, I wanted to get closer to the vinyl version, perhaps i've captured a bit of it
The original has a few overdubs, also some studio tricks, i've incorporated these and they seem to have worked.
I also tried another technique but didn't use it in the end as it doesn't work the same with outboards or plugins. A common procedure when using Abbey Roads Studio 2 echo chamber was to use a RS106, Hi-pass/Low-pass filter. A typical set-up would be to cut the bass at 600 Hertz, and the top at 10,000 Hertz. It was found that when leaving these frequencies in, the chamber produced a boomy sound.(Michael addey)
Abbey Road had six RS106's two were used for the echo chamber. It was also found that by adding two in series a dirty distortion could be produced and this was also used.
Kevin Ryan, co-writer of "Recording the Beatle" told me that most studio's today that have echo, or as they should be called, reverb chambers, used this filter technique.
The instruments used for my version, 1963 Strat, TVS3, VoxAC30 H2, Neumann U87 mic, Yamaha acoustic, Fender Jazz Bass, BFD2 drums and Garritan Personal Orchestra.
Hope you like it.
