San Francisco.Instro using The Shadows vocal backing

Postby Phil McGarrick » 13 Feb 2014, 19:48

I think the correct title is "San Francisco.(Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair) "
This is an instrumental cover using The Shadows vocal version from the 1967 CD "From Hank,Bruce,Brian & John"
The vocals have been removed by Lars from The Marvingers who made a great instrumental version and kindly sent me the backing.
Many thanks Lars !

The original was a big hit for Scott McKenzie in 1967.

I used my Alesis Quadraverb Q2 EFTP patch 0-36 and a Dunlop DVP 1 volume pedal and my new Fender custom 56NOS, Kinman Impersonator 54 V3 pickups with K7 Harness on middle position. Recorded directly into cubase via a PreSonus Audiobox USB . (No Amp)

Hope you like "San Francisco"
Cheers Phil

Thanks Alan - I loved the Shadows vocal of this one with such MWF type harmonies.
Cheers for the nice comment.

Hi Steve - Thanks for your nice comments - The swell pedal comes sort of natural now although you can get caught out on a faint bit if you're not careful with it. Strange I'm right handed but the pedal works best with my left foot. :?

All the best... Phil

Lovely job, Phil.
I was never enamoured with the lads vocal version but by removing the voices and playing the Lead on your new NOS56 it has a whole new lease of life.
Excellent.
Cheers
