Surfs Up!!
Image
Another tune from Martin Cilia's 2013 album “Going To Kaleponi” called STREET SURFER.
Can you guess what Val bought me for Christmas yet??!!
Apparently “Kaleponi” is ancient Hawaiian for “California”. I wonder how they knew – did they ask an ancient Hawaiian perhaps.
Mine is a slightly different take on Martins version – for example I have a harmony in at the end and he waggles the trem LOTS more than I do!! lol!!

Anyway – usual Brason Strat with a few non-Shads tweaks to the amp set-up – more Gain on the AC30 model than I would usually use for Shads music to warm it up a bit, more Reverb to emulate the Fender Reverb Tank that Martin uses and some compression courtesy of Boss CS-3.
Patch is Zoom2000EFTP Patch 13 – yes, thats right -Wonderful Land patch – fits the Bill great.

Backing track is mine - Band In A Box 2014/RealBand - 4 RealTracks+1 RealDrums+3 midi tracks from Martins own midi file.

Enjoy!

Hi Ian - A brilliant Surf number - I'm not familiar with the album this came from but you are very good at playing these numbers and you get just the right sound. The BIAB BT sounds very professional !!
I'm guessing santa sorry Val bought you "Going To Kaleponi" CD? for Christmas - There'll be no stopping you now.
All the best... Phil

Like Phil I'm not familiar with the album but what a great surf style sound you've achieved.

Very atmospheric.

Hi Phil -yes Val bought me the download album for Christmas. Such is Beloveds computer knowledge, she has to wait till son James came or him to convert the tracks to disk. Some really good tracks on there. Workng on a third one, on and off. Thanks for your kind comment. The "Surf Sound" isn't my usual and I really had to mess up my Shads settings on the Korg Ampworks modeller to get the sound. Martin plays them on a "real" 61 Strat so its going to be hard to get that "twang" on Kinsman FVs but its fun trying.
Hi Roger - Glad you like the tone, which wasn't easy to achieve - see above. Sometimes I think Martin records into the Red to get that clangerous sound. I'm glad you liked it.
Cheers
Ian
