I not sure whether your comment referred to the song at issue here. But Til there was you was not written by Lennon McCartney

The solo on While my guitar gently weeps was Clapton.

Something's solo was Harrison.

Sorry guys I concede, I recently read Clapton's book and got my tunes mixed up - simply because of Eric's involvement with Georges wife Patti, for whom "Something" was written.

That's okay Dave.

I seem to recall that Eric wrote Wonderful Tonight for Patti. Helen launched a 1000 ships. Ms Boyd launched quite a few notable songs!

Nice job , dead 'ard chords in 1963, the 'ardest chorded tune we played at the time.
Patti Boyd must have been a right little cracker, Something ( debatably), Layla, Wonderful Tonight all wrote for her.

Martin, what wonderful memories this brings back!

As Ecca says, some fantastic chords in this tune which we all had to learn, but what an apprenticeship it was for our generation of 60s groups!. Sometimes it makes me wonder if the younger generation are missing out on a lot by just learning the solos and instrumentals. By the time I was 17 in 19 frozen to death... I had a full arsenal of chords including the diminished and augmented ones, mainly gleaned from having to learn Beatles numbers as they came out - they were certainly talented in all directions. Numbers are much easier to learn when you know your way around chords and scales.

Lovely rendition played on that fabulous Gretch... more please. Great stuff.

cheers,
john
