Here's the valve aTap2hw hybrid unit. It all works great, it still needs a front label, that's taken care of and some knobs.
I'm amazed at the sound, it's great. It has separate input and output level controls and if you want it to, it growls deliciously. I swapped the Chinese valves for Russian ones but I can't say I noticed any difference.
It's effectively 2 pre-amps in series, one before and one after the eTap2hw module which is mounted to the right.

I've ordered PCBs for this valve unit and I intend to make them.
I'll not be using the knobs with the scales on them- it'll be etched into the nameplate and I'll use chicken head knobs of different colours.
I'll use aluminium again, no painting, no rust.
The box is slightly bigger to allow for the valves, it's 10" by 3" by 8".
It will require a 12 volt AC power supply,
