What's nice about the third one, as opposed to a hamster cage, is that it's stereo which makes it flexible.

Looks pretty good Ecca . . . isn't the Vox Tonelab the same thing, only a little more expensive?

And ultimately, doesn't the Kork Ampworks do the same job?

Yes Bojan but the Tonelab with a valve in usually ends up vastly more expensive, not a little, and the Toneworks, good as it is ( I got 2 of em , still used every Tuesday ) possesses no valve.
Also, particularly the third item, could be built-in to an eTap2hw unit.
It looks a decent PCB with good screening on the bottom layer, the parts are a hybrid of surface mount and conventional so some component mods may be possible.
I've asked for a schematic and the experts here can pass judgement if I get it.
I'm no expert on valve circuit designs.

Why does it need to be a valve pre amp Ecca ?

I presume your not looking for distorted/overdriven output............ the Etap is "solid state"...... mosfets work like valves to all practical intents & purposes if you keep distortion out of the equation.
One of the good points (for me) of the Etap project is the small size & with the automation side & now a pre amp they are all going to have to be rack size to get all this stuff in & then it won't fit in my pocket anymore :(

Or is that what they were meaning by deep pockets & short arms
