Hi all just a quick question is the Shure SM57 still highly rated for micing up an amp appreciate any response thanks Phil

Yes the sure SM57 is the Industry standard for micing amps etc

It is worth making sure that the SM57 you get is genuine and not a fake. It is quite hard to tell the difference from just appearance: Google "fake SM57" for some tips. I got a fake one and the line matching transformer was just a lump of iron to make it feel the same weight. Needless to say it sounded harsh in the top end and was quite sensitive to cable length.

i would only buy from a reputable sure dealer, there are so many good looking fakes available
its worth spending a few more quid to get the genuine article.
