Guitar Strap Shoulder Pads

Postby SJB » 11 Jul 2021, 11:44

For some time now I have had issues with my left shoulder (I am right handed).
I had two issues - the one has now cleared - but I am left with the other.
When I lift the kettle my shoulder burns - I think the muscle is called the upper trapezius. Seems to occur first thing in the morning after playing the evening before. I use Fender Straps.

I am thinking of a Strap shoulder pads - has anyone had this situation?

If your shoulder burns when you lift the kettle, perhaps you should think about leaving the lid on.

There used to be something called the "Y" strap that spreads the weight between both shoulders. I.ve not seen them advertised for a long time though.Perhaps try Google?

I would take a different approach and go and see a physio or chiropractor. They may be able to identify the root cause and find a permanent solution for you :) .

Cheers Cliff,
I did go to a Physio not long before the pandemic. We have self referral - phone number from GP - just refer yourself.
Had exercises some manipulation - then the pandemic. But no investigative x-rays etc. But that condition has cleared.

The shoulder burn is the other situation.
It will take ages to get another appointment on the NHS. With Private - costs can run up and it can go on and on.
I am knocking on a bit now - when doing the exercises all my back and chest joints were clicking - made me feel quite sick.
I was just hoping someone would be able to say that the wide pad was a possible answer in their situation.
The wife has come up with a pad she had - so I am trying it.

A bass guitar strap could be the answer. Look for one 3 inches wide, with padding.
