Very interesting, I sometimes think that Alan doesn't get the credit he deserves

Or, maybe even... Fount! :)

Following John Rostill and the hiatus in the existence of the group, I've always tended to think, rightly or wrongly, that the succeeding bass players (not to mention the keyboard players!) were never considered as bona members of the Shadows, just highly accomplished, almost 'guest' musicians, obviously essential to furthering the creation of the group sound.

As the marketed image was to become that of just Hank, Bruce and Brian, maybe the bass guitarists have tended to be overlooked by the mass audience, quite apart from the appreciation of fellow players, as personalities in their own right.

Thanks Bill, my opinion is that both Alan and Cliff brought a huge amount to the Shads during their time recording and performing with them. For me the highlight of the Shads careers. I am sure that folks will have different opinions... that’s just mine.
The use of the word Font by the way is just as valid as Fount. Look it up, I did. It’s always nice to know that one will always be corrected here rightly or wrongly.

Quite right, Peter, an alternative term!

Legend has it that Elvis (or representative) attempted to poach Alan Jones from Tom Jones, presumably in Vegas...

This is probably also because the Polydor period (1980 to 1990) is often overlooked by various Shadows fans and the music buying public in general. Undeservedly, in my opinion.
