I thought the re-recordings were done well but you can't recreate the youthful energy they had back then, not to mention the different technology.
Having said that, i thought the new version of The Boys was terrible!

I actually heard some of The Shadows' hits for the first time through the 1989 re-recordings! These are: "The Boys", "Theme For Young Lovers", "Genie With The Light Brown Lamp", "Geronimo" and "The Stranger". I discovered the original versions a little later.

My favourite version is live in Japan 1969
But this version is good . But needed more of a lic sound .
Sounds like one of marks bassese. that he used when they were live in concert .
