Followed a link on the Leo's Den site and ordered a copy of the May 2020 issue of Beat magazine. Shadows on cover and a full page inside from Juliette on the BBC4 documentary and the new releases, plaus a one-page article by Pat Murphy reviewing and rating the Shadows albums of the 60s. Total Guitar current issue has one of those '100 great guitarist' feature. Hank is one of five listed in the Innovators section of the listings.

I'll admit that you've got me completely stumped! Can't find any reference to this magazine anywhere... and I've looked on Leo's Den and the magazine's website and facebook page. Usually I can find things pretty easily, but this one has defeated me!

Thanks. That's not what I meant. I was able to find the website(s), but can find no reference to the Shadows article, etc...

Sorry Chris,

I'd misunderstood. I suspect they're having trouble keeping the website up to date -- the last reference is March 2020.

Have you tried calling them?

Regards,
DaveC.

The Shadows feature and front cover were the May 2020 issue. The link may have been in an email and not on the site - apologies!

Current issue of Uncut has a three page feature on Hank (well, one page is a photo) in which he answers question from readers, including one from Pete Korving. He is more than happy that Bruce still using 34346 but maintains it still belongs to Cliff. He clearly has no enthusiasm for a Final Final Tour.

OK, it's a (very short) newspaper article, but I wonder if it was gleaned from the Uncut interview...?

Hank Marvin declined the OBE awarded to fellow members of The Shadows, rhythm guitarist Bruce Welch and drummer Brian Bennett.
Marvin refused to elaborate on the reasons for rejecting the 2004 honour, amid speculation that his religious beliefs may have been a factor, since Jehovah’s Witnesses do not salute the flag.
Now the guitarist has finally disclosed his objection. ‘I’m happy just being plain Mister. I appreciated the honour but too many people are getting them.’
Marvin, who settled in Australia, would return for a higher honour. ‘I said to Cliff [Richard], “I’m stopping at nothing short of a lord’
