I quite like The Ventures' music too. A pity I never got to see them live, as to my knowledge, they mostly performed in their native USA, Japan and some other countries in that region. When you saw The Ventures, was that after Bob Bogle's retirement from the group or after he died? Was it Bob Spalding on bass guitar?
Hello, Ivo. Bob Bogle had retired by the time of the two concerts I saw. I can’t recall if he had passed away by the 2nd concert. Bob Spalding was at least in the 2nd concert; Nokie was so weak he was propped up against a stool. Don Wilson was as enthusiastic and energetic as usual: he thanked his parents for the genes to allow him to keep doing the tours and his children for making it necessary. I got the large Manila paper sheet taped on the stage floor in front of Don with the set list written in LARGE letters.
They didn’t sound at all like the early recordings, but if was a treat to watch them still.
