I notice others have looked at or bought the BOSS Katana amps. I tried out a 50 w in a shop. Apparently, these replaced the Roland Cube series, which were good amps. I'm not sure in the long term if they will be as trouble free as the Cubes . From what I've read downloading effects and voicings not as straightforward as it may seem. One guy from an online retailer told me it's the "Best thing since sliced bread" The basic clean amp sound-as it is , seemed to have no character- to my ears anyway...it comes to life when you download the amp voicings.. I do wonder whether these will remain stable..any thoughts?
Where are they made? £199-00 for a 50 watt amp is quite cheap in today's money.

There are some recent videos on youtube with Kurt Fröberg playing a Katana (eilther with the Ryders or Scarborough Band), and the sound is quite good.

ive been using the Katana with my band The Wannabe Shadows for the last year full time. I did download the sneaky amps but I decided against them and went back to the normal clean channel for shads stuff with the 10 band EQ setup internally the same as the caline eq pedal and its the nearest i have ever had to that sound

Here's a video of Peace Pipe on a Katana 50
I also understand Steve Reynolds is now using a Katana, he sounded good when i heard him recently.

I believe you need Windows 10 on your computer to download the amp

Provided you delve into the free Boss Tone Studio, you can get your Katana to do everything. The so called "Sneaky Amps" download is interesting, but you can make better patches yourself using Tone Studio...

I believe that I was responsible for the Katana frenzy eighteen months ago and I never bothered with all that downloading stuff.
I just plugged the echo box straight into it and used the clean channel, getting the desired tone in a heartbeat.
Why does it have to be complicated ?

Enough said....what echo box is that?It was the Hall & Collins Vincent, but I have since tried my Klemt Echolette, Watkins Copicat IC400 Varispeed, Catalinbread Echorec, Zoom BT-100 and I use on stage my Line 6 Helix because of the many different sounds I use in a show, but I don’t use amp simulation on the Helix when using Katana, but each of them sound sublime.
