Hello. Have acquired this amp, which seems to work well
but I am confused as to why there is an Earth terminal on
the controls panel.
The amp of course has a two pin plug and was wondering
whether it is safe to use without a wire running from the
aforementioned Earth terminal?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers...George.

Yes you do need to connect the earth terminal in order to remove the risk of electric shock.
With equipment that has a metal chassis and just a two connector power supply connection (Live and neutral) there is always the chance that the chassis
could become 'live' and the screen of your guitar lead is connected to the chassis of the amp.
Many unfortunate people in the past have been killed in this type of situation when they are touching the strings or metalwork of their guitar which has a voltage
on it due to a fault in the amp, and then they lean forward and touch the earthed microphone stand thus completing the circuit for the current to run through
their body.
