Tonio,
In most discussions related to EFTP ( or reference to/from this against other machines) you need to understand that EFTP is not only a echomachine emulation but more or less a modelling of an authentic?'Shads' recording. Charlie is using additional features to enrich the patch to make it 'as recorded' or as close as possible.

You'll find in EFTP patches sometimes reverbs added including phantom heads enrichments to achieve this. In the discussions on eTap2hw and other emulations you'll get only the echo equipment, the way the Shadows performed on stage!

Although this all sounds very positive towards EFTP you also need to appreciate the fact that the 'degree of freedom' on EFTP or JPatches equipment is much less then required to emulate a decent echo unit, there are many known and basic requirements missing due to this hardware/software inability hence the forthcoming Charlie unit, this fine ESE design, my eTap2 VST module and the eTap2hw machine.

A constructive discussion on echo emulation is therefore only possible when the 'target' is one of the described two possibilities and mentioned upfront and understood by all participating to avoid misunderstandings in the discussion at hand because it is serving two different echo requirements and sometimes even commercial purpose.

When the ESE unit you've mentioned is to emulate the Echomatic-II the heads 1|2|3 are required to be connected to one potentiometer as one group. The only open discussion on this device is the head 1 being 0dB ( as original designed) or around -2 to - 3dB (tweaked) as this became measurable at particular 'Shads' tracks.

In my Echomatic-2 'classic' it is 0dB in the Echomatic-2 patches there is some deviation for head 1.
