My new Valve eTapHW unit (Eccavalvamatic)

Postby Nick Allan » Thu May 02, 2013 3:08 pm

Wow !

When Ecca built Piet's original unit for me I thought (and still think) it was brilliant. Now Ecca has kindly built me the new valve version..................and it is even more brilliant. On top of the wonderful tones of the original, this unit really brings the echoes alive - they leap out at you with 3D (as it were) depth, warmth and what I can only describe as an all-encompassing presence, as if you were listening to the music with high quality stereo headphones - only better.

I tried it out in earnest at a gig last Friday and even though I was expecting it to sound good, I must say it surpassed my (optimistic) expectations by a long way. Even my band members commented on the distinct improvement in quality, and bearing in mind they are not nerdy about these things as I am, that was quite a compliment. It just cut through the mix and dominated it with its warm powerful presence, and it sounded fantastic.

I can highly recommend it, and once again thanks to Piet for the invention, and Ecca for building it and adding the stunnung improvement of the valves.

All the best to you all,

Nick Allan

The first time I built the valve unit I knew this was it.
It's impossible to qualify what it is about it.
Bit like a valve amp really, you can't quite put it into words.

Yes even the Black Adder would be impressed with such a cunning plan, so congratulations. Just a couple of questions. Did Dave create any sound files for it that we could hear and can you provide a kit that can be built into an existing unit? Cheers

Absolutely right Ecca,

I struggled to find the right words to convey the sound this unit now produces - a warm, vivid ,larger than life presence (but that does not capture it), so well done Ecca for a wonderful enhancement of a fantastic machine.

All the best,

Nick

Here's yet another variant, I have, with great imagination called it the 'Shiny Black Knobber unit'.
I had the top polished.
( The front isn't green. it's reflecting the grass )
