Six settings for Cosy - which is "right" one !?

Postby Bojan » Tue Oct 29, 2013 4:39 pm

Playing around with the eTap2hw, I have determined that generally there can be more than one setting for each song.

For example I have found seven settings for Cosy that all sound good. There are probably more, but I have included one from every Meazzi model and the Vox Long Tom.

85C5 -- (Meazzi Echomatic I J classic)
-----------------------------------------------------------
15C5 -- (Meazzi Echomatic I F classic)
-----------------------------------------------------------
25C5 -- (Meazzi Echomatic I F special)
-----------------------------------------------------------
35F7 -- (Meazzi Echomatic II bank)
-----------------------------------------------------------
45B5 -- (Vox Long Tom classic
-----------------------------------------------------------
50C5 -- (Meazzi Echomatic II classic)

However, obviously there is only one "real" setting; the one that Hank used on the record. Taking into account the year Cosy was recorded and the echo units Hank used at that time, which of these (or some other) settings do you think would be the one Hank used?

Hi Bojan,

Thanks for your settings. Unfortunately I can't play Cosy so I can't comment on the best setting for it ;)

I believe Cosy was recorded in 1962 so that would probably mean Hank used the Echomatic II.

Just for clarity, I assume your settings are (left to right)

Echo model, Dry/Wet, Program/Heads, Feedback

Echo Model 8 would be the same as Echo Model 0 on my eTap2hw, i.e. both are Meazzi Echomatic I J classic

Regards,

Phil.

Thanks Phil, yes that's right, the settings are from left to right as you describe and yes, my 8 is your 0 . . .

I think that you are right about the Echomatic II being used. The eTap2hw has two programs that emulate the Echomatic II, programs 3 and 5 and both of them give a fabulous Cosy echo (in my case the setting are 35F7 and 50C5) . . . but I was wondering whether anyone could say which would be the real one, the right one.

There are other songs with the same "problem" . . for example Sleepwalk . . .
