Hello Ernie,thank for comment, I use my Strat reissue 62 with strings gibson L5 13/56, in my pc with VST technology.

I have been designing valve amplifers & effect units for the last 40 years and have been asked many times how The Spotnicks got that unique sound?
Well I was fortunate enough to see Bo winbergs gear many years ago and the first thing that struck me was the amp build he had done which was basically a hi-fi amp with a matcher for guitar on the input section using mullard valves and resistors with 10% tolerance. But there is a simple way to get the sound.

Parametric eq - echo - Reverb - active tone control unit. or this will blow your socks off (Alesis quadraverb plus with SFTP - Boss GT6 for reverb (Coral effect)).

You mention a parametric EQ before the echo and reverb - could you let us know how that EQ should be set?

The same applies to the active tone control unit after the echo and reverb.

Hi !

In order to add some détails at Didier's post, we are using a Diamond préamp, modified by the manufacturer in Sweden, an ALTO reverb which is the one which gives the closest sound and a compressor.
The guitar is a strat US and strings are 13/54 gauge.
The amp is a SR Technologies JAM 400 (400W RMS) which is the best one we tested. Lower power are not really good. We use it also for acoustic Shad's numbers when we play The Shadows repertoire as SHOTGUN Ltd.
When we played at Pipeline 2011 we had a Marshall 100W which is not so close to the original sound. JAM 400 works with a B&O technology and is a remarkable amp (even for acoustic guitars !!)

We've been staying 5 days in 2011 in SWEDEN to find the best gear and this one is very convenient. We are really satisfied now. Also we say " more is less" sometimes. all the audiences we had found it very good.
