As a good clone of the Binson Echorec I'd rate it 10/10.

In the context of using the machine for Shads stuff, which was largely Meazzi based, I'd put my ESE Echomatic top, Etap2hw equal to that and the Echorec 2nd. The Magicstomp does the job well but lacks the tone of the others. 8-)

AND...I STILL cannot seem to find "That Sound!" Really fed up with it.

I use VOX amps I have two AD30 VT pre-amp boxes and an AC 30 CC2 "all valve"

On the AC 30 I can't seem to decide where the dials and switches should be for best results, I also link the amps into an Alesis Quadraverb GT2 but still can't find "That Sound?"

Any advice would be most welcome. I am thinking of getting a 10 Band Equalizer to see if I can get "That Sound?" using that piece of equipment?

I am in despair to be honest.

An eTap2 plugged into your CC2 should give you THAT SOUND in spades. No need for graphic EQ.
Where do you live ? I'd come and do it for you if you were close enough.

Yeah go to a Shadows club and speak to someone and ask them to show you. I would say an EQ pedal would be a good investment if you want to get nearer the record sound when playing live.

Hi Dave, I am a new member (Johannesburg, South Africa) and I love this site. I haven't played for 40 years and have taken it up again eight months ago. At this stage I am only playing Shadows and my goal is to try and get as close as possible to "that sound". My kit is American Standard Strat with Ernie Ball 12 - 56, Vox AC30xx2, RFX Zoom Rack (EFTP) 2200 and I use the UB Hank backing tracks. On about 60% of the tunes I get about 90% accuracy to my ears (e.g. Apache, Wonderful Land, Theme for Young Lovers, Atlantis etc.). On the other 40% I am not happy (e.g. Rise & Fall of Flingel Bunt, Dance On,The Boys, Shazam, The Frightened City etc.). The RFX has pre-settings for all the Shads numbers, but the 40% just don't come close enough to Hank. I am going to start filling in at gigs and I would love to get as close as possible - without having to fiddle in between numbers. Any obvious thoughts? Chic Berkhout

Bit of a long walk to any Shadows clubs then Chic ?
Why do you need preset settings for if you're not gigging ? Part of the fun is using your own ears to get the sounds.
You can get better than the RFX , audio wise, it's the presettability that makes it a practical unit.
The valve Eccamatics are a much better sound and I know just the man..........
