Sorry but this need addressing. I have read several posts where folks are suffering from noisy Etap2hw machines.
The blame seems to be on certain power supplies that we are buying, I bought the recommended one from Maplins and there is a constant buzz/hum from the amp when in use.
If I unplug the lead from the Etap and the noise goes away. Anybody any ideas ?
Other than that , this is the best sounding machine I have tried apart from the real thing (ie ESE Echomatic). The problem needs sorting quickly.

I'll mail Piet (Echotapper) to see what the supply situation is in the UK & see if I can find a UK distributor.

Mine has a Europlug fitment (2 pin shaver style) which is solved by buying an adaptor from B&Q for example for a couple of pounds.

The filtered wall outlet will help as well but is not essential.

The original designer (Piet) made his design & the implementation of the Etap2hw available to all free under the "Open Source" banner.
Power supplies are to be sorted by the the purchaser of the parts/completed machine as it was supplied world wide.

I was not personally aware of the Etap2hw "noise" problem being as severe as you say yours is.

As I believe the models you use are supplied by Ecca (another assumption) you could speak to him to see if his units have any special requirements for power supplies.

Anybody else out there bothered with noise problems with their Etap2hw units ?

Thanks Dick, the one from Maplins wasn't cheap, about £20 I think. I'm going to try some top quality cables, it might make a difference, I'll let you know should I get a result.

I've not encountered any noise problems, this week is the first I've heard.
There will be some noise if valves are used but nothing untoward. My AC15 is noisy.
Positioning of guitars and units , lighting in rooms , power supplies, leads etc etc.
Many and various are the causes of noise.

I use high quality cables on stage as opposed to bog standard stuff in the house. Never get any noise there so I'll get them in out of my working box and see if there's an improvement . . . . .

OK I did that and not too much difference, however it did make a big difference removing the DeArmond 610 pedal. I've got it acceptable and I'm certain that the power supply is OK. Steve has a similar machine and has similar noise, it's like something needs earthing somewhere.
