I am back, just found a nice one to learn, its new to me and came as a surprise as I thought I had heard all the Shadows music for teenage years so I was quite a shock to discover a new one (to me).
The Breeze and I,
I got the tabs and backing from Gorans site so I now have three tunes to speed up on
I have finally talked my guitar playing Brother-in-law to visit the nearby Shadows club when he is over in August and even talked him in to bringing his guitar along so that he can play on the night
So I if I keep up with my speed I may even be good enough to play too
Heres hoping
Once again many thanks for the advice and words of encoragement
S

The Breeze And I is quite easy to play if you are familiar with your E major scales and positions on the fretboard, especially at the stately pace at which it was taken by The Shadows.

The one I've always had difficulty with Zambesi - and the chromatic run in particular. That is, notes 13 - 22 inclusive of the main melody. Notes 1 - 12 are easy enough because they are just arpeggiated chords, but being convincing on the next passage is not easy...

Hi, I'm back again.
I know the Zambezi tune from old however did not know it was done by The Shadows.
I have the tabs, backing and Gorans version and have had a bit of a play (of the easy bits as I ahve done most of the popular tunes for my own amusement,
I still have a problem with "Dance on" Tabs, I am not sure if the Tabs are correct as it sounds nothing like the Shadows version when I play (I know it is not hard to believe) on the intro the 0's on the A string sound better if played on the E string.
Is this an error on the Tabs?
Anyone else played it?
Another one I am hoping to learn is "Going Home", very melodic and as near to Dire Straits as I can get, still plucking away and getting a little better with my guitar each day but the main thing is I am having fun and am really enjoying it.
Hope to play Apache at the Hersham club in a couple of months time as this is a target that I have set myself, then I can get serious and learn proper chords, scales and the notes on the fret.

Hi Steve
The tabs that I've seen are not the same as the original record either and I thought it was about time I learnt how to play the beginning properly as I've changed how I play it so many times. Anyway tonight I slowed it down in Media Player and copied down the tabs as it sounds to me though it's hard with tabs to show the rhythm and I don't write tabs normally so sorry if they don't look right. Maybe this sounds more like it to you too or perhaps someone would be able to correct my transcription if it's wrong :)

Hi Rosemary

I've seen Hank play Dance On in a similar way to your tab and also using the 5th and 7th fret on the 6th string instead of open and 2nd fret on 5th string where the phrase crops up again in the middle of the tune. He might have played it that way on the Final Tour DVD but I'd have to look to be certain

I find Naughty Nippon NIghts hardest to play. Mind you, I'm talking about the bass part. Rostill at his best: me not!

Hi, Thanks for the correction to the Tabs for Dance On, similar to the ones that I have been given,
(hoping the spacing lines up here)
D---2-0---------------------------------
A--------2-2---2-2-22---2---0000-0--
E--0----------0---------0---0-----------
This might be a little nearer the mark but I am hardly an authority as I can only still play Apache (now while standing up without looking at the tabs!), Dance On I now know the tabs but am painfully slow at and The Breeze and I I can play if I can see the tabs but still painfully slow except for the first repeat bit, I love the slow melodic tune. Zambezi I have tried to play and have put it on the back burner for a while.
I thought most people would have rated Mozart Forte as the hardest, it sounds very ...rapid and ...technical and also many people will know the tune and thus know if its off a bit.
Back to my guitar for still more lessons
Regards

Has been sometime since I’ve been active, but remember this thread Is Rosemary still around? Has she finally perfected the “gallop” part of Apache? I’ve only recently began to play again. Best to all.

The middle bit in Flingel bunt, can't get it in my head. In my wildest dreams I'd love to
play Rodrigo, ambitious is a massive understatement though. My problem is concentration,
I can play the tunes but halfway through I forget where I'm up to, something to do with being
in touching distance of eighty I suppose. Plus the little finger doesn't work too well now.

Apache is the easiest, anyone else got one they find easy?
