Thought for today...

As we get older, we sometimes doubt our ability to ‘make a difference’ in the world. It is at these times that our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of other ‘seniors’ who have found the courage to take on challenges that would make many of us wither.

Harold Schlumberg is such a person:

QUOTE FROM HAROLD

“I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired?'
Well, I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background and one of the things I enjoy most is converting beer, wine and vodka into urine. I do it every day and really enjoy it.”

An inspiration to us all.

I don't have a chemical engineering background (mine is in broadcasting) , but I still have a lot of success at emulating Harold's feats.
Cheers, ;)

Excellent and inspiring indeed !! I can only add a thought of my own -- given my background in biology -- and that is that the "urine cycle" doesn't end there, because everything Harold Schlumberg and the rest of us "chemistry experts" convert into urine, nature converts back and we drink it all over again in the form of beer, wine, vodka. That's kind of inspiring too . . .

Actually, if you drink John Smith's or Boddington's you can cut out a stage in the cycle...

Back in college days, the local beer in Portsmouth was Brickwoods, brewed down by the dockyard. A sample was sent to the Public Analyst. His report stated "Your horse has diabetes".
