Back Home with the Mark Leeman Five

An interesting track (#13) appears on the 1991 See For Miles compilation, The Mark Leeman Five Memorial Album...

Attributed to 'Unknown', it is a vocal version of that most worthy B side of The Frightened City, featuring a somewhat eccentric lyric of undisclosed origin, recorded c. 1963 for a projected album never actually to see the light of day.

According to the booklet notes, the session(s) were engineered by one Jim Goff, then apparently employed at Pye Studios. I seem to recall reading somewhere a quote by the Shads, to the effect they had no idea how Jim Goff came to have a co-composer credit for Back Home, as he had nothing whatsoever to do with its creation. Maybe, he decided later to try and extract a little more mileage from the tune, coming up with the lyric heard on this retrospective collection!
