Such sad news, though by now, not unexpected. Mo passed away this morning. There are many tributes to him on the web, with a fair number of those coming from internationally-respected musicians.

I'd known Mo for many years. I first saw him doing a week at a night-club in Liverpool with Hank and John Farrar back in 1974 and was later invited to attend one of his recording sessions in Oxford - probably twenty years ago - and met up with him most years at the Pipeline Convention and at various other venues. He was a wonderful, intuitive, player in any style and a great bloke to know.

Of course, as well as working with Cliff Richard (for instance, at the 1978 London Palladium reunion concerts), Mo was the Shadows' bassist on the now-legendary John Peel "Sounds On Sunday" sessions of late 1973.

So sad to hear the news. As well as being a fine musician, composer and producer, Mo was one of the nicest guys around. It was a pleasure and a privilege to know him. We were so glad the we made it to what turned out to be the final gig by Mo Foster and Friends at the beginning of May.

Sad to hear this news
i met Mo at The Jet Harris memorial in 2012 and had the pleasure of playing along side him.
as others have said a realy nice friendly person.A Superb musician , he will be sadly missed by many people.

I chatted to Mo at Shadowmania about him touring with Hank and John and sessions with Olivia. Just a great guy. I highly recommend Mo's book Seventeen Watts AKA Play Like Elvis!. RIP.

R.I.P. Mo,,, one of the best.

The first time I saw Mo's name and saw and heard him play, was the recording of the "Thank You Very Much" album and video. As already said, he also appeared on The Shadows' BBC radio session from late 1973 and of course on various of Cliff's concerts from the 1970s. In 1999 Mo played on and contributed some tracks to Jet Harris' album "The Phoenix Rises". I also have his "Belsize Lane: A Collection of Sketches" solo album, which includes a track with Tony Meehan. Another member of the Shadows family gone. Rest in peace Mo...

It should also be pointed out that Mo Foster was a member of Survivors, an instrumental group that also included Brian Bennett, Steve Gray, Clem Clempson and Paul Hart. They recorded an album in 1992, at Brian's Honeyhill Studios, and Mo was instrumental in getting it released on CD, by AngelAir records, in 2003. It's a great album. Sadly, along with Mo, Steve Gray and Paul Hart have also now passed away.

To lose Mo is is a great shame. As well as being an excellent bass player, Mo should, of course, be remembered for his books, '17 Watts'(1997) and the follow-up, British Rock Guitar' (2011)
Mo lived in Hampstead, so I would imagine that his funeral will take place at Golders Green or Hendon cemeteries. I would like to attend, so if anyone hears the details of his funeral, please pm me.

There is an article in bassmagazine.com on Mo Foster.
It says there is no funeral and an unattended cremation as Mo wished.
