I love the number Honourable Puff Puff and am keen to find out what was used to create the special sound when Brian played his kit. Your help in this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I believe if memory serves me correctly that Brian used a form of Roto Toms on the Paris Olympia shows which Martin Verrill now owns.
There was a thread about them not too long ago. I remember comments on how heavy they were.

A slight (very slight!) alteration to your posting, Ron. It's the flight case for the syndrums and controller that weighs about the same as two medium sized bungalows. The 'drums' themselves are only plastic frames with mesh heads and very crudely constructed with a basic speaker underneath the mesh head. This, in turn, is connected via a standard jack to the controller which has various sliders for altering the different parameters. Nice to play with, though.

The 'special' sweeping drum sound on Live at the Paris Olympia version is down to the aforementioned phasing, applied either by the live sound engineer or at the remix stage. Any sound engineer worth his or her salt can emulate it. All you've got to do is play as well as BB.
