Fender pro Junior clone..... ish

Postby ecca » 17 Sep 2011, 23:17

Right.... I've built the guitar, now for the amp.
Aided and abetted by my good friend Amanda who has built a spanking clone of this amp which I have used on many occasions....
I'm building one.

I got the circuit diagram.( Amanda... mwah mwah. )
I got the HT and output transformers.
I'm enroute to getting the cab and chassis dimensions ( anything you want for crimbo Mand ? )
Questions;
What would be a good 10 "speaker to use ? ( I'm not not going to 12" and I'm not spending a lot of of money so don't deviate too much! )
More sensibly..... I want a good nameplate for the front, shiny chrome, and definitely not Fender.

I want a car manufacturer's name, like Ford or Renault or summat this time.
i suppose Rolls Royce would be perfection but me being me, I want something like ...... Trabant.
Anyone any ideas where to get a suitable chrome nameplate to stick on the front of this magnificent new amp I'm building ?
Yours,
Arthur.

If you must use a 10" speaker ecca, it's got to be the "Rajin Cajun"

This amp gets so much better with a 12" speaker I use a Celestion neo vintage in mine

Mine is in a lacquered vintage style tweed cab but so far I've been unable to think of a suitably fitting name. Its provisionally called DC 18 as it seems the GM o/put valves put out around 18w :D

Good luck with the build

Forgot to add the local guy who does keys & engraving at Durham market also does nameplates etc...

Have a look at the local shoe repair stalls as they all seem to do signs these days

Isn't it quite fitting that E.C.C.A. is also an acronym for the "Enterpise Centre for the Creative Arts"?

:D
