I believe that Patrice Bastien who modded a Binson changed the head spacings and possibly
the motor speed, and converted the circuitry to the Meazzi circuit, which is a large part
apart from the head spacings of the difference between the sound of the Binson and Meazzi.
I'd also heard although I'm not certain if it's true, that the unit was converted from transistor to
valve.
Didier is the person who knows about the Patrice Bastien mods.

Hi,
Patrice's Meazzi clone unit was made from a heavily modified
valve Binson unit. Here it is :
The only external difference is an added knob (just under the ECHOREC label), but inside a lot of modifications have been made. The unit was totally rewired according to Meazzi schematics, and the head spacing was modified to match the Meazzi's one.
As far as I know, no modifications about motor speed were required and made.
Last night I attended a gig with Guitar Express, and Patrice was of course using his Meazzi clone which still works and sounds great !
Patrice's Meazzi clone has been nicknamed here "la machine à coudre" (the sewing machine), not because of its sound, but because of the look of the carrying case !...
You can watch here Guitar Express with Patrice using it at another gig last month :
