Gain Staging for DAWs -Revisited

Postby Garystrat » Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:57 am

There has been some discussion in the past regarding gain staging for DAWs, I came across a video that whilst Ableton Live specific has a lot of common principals that apply In general and thought it may be helpful to share it as contains some information that often get overlooked:

Many will know that I have been advocate for Ableton DAWs, which come in the “Intro” start version, “Standard” right to the more advanced “Suite”, part of the appeal is that it’s designed for both live play (practice) and recording and has many unique features. One of these is the gain staging meters between plugins, which gives an instant check of how settings may be reacting from one to another.
