To me it can only mean that the 'pushed down bit of the pole was seen to be sticking out from the bottom pickup plate when they stripped 34346 down to produce a spec. We can only hope that David has to change his strings in the not to distant future. Regards Geoff.

I'll probably betempted to 'lift the bonnet' on mine before too long and I'll have a look and let you know.

... but for the moment you could have a look at the photo of the underside of the pickups posted on the Oasis site under their publicity for the guitar. This does seem to show minor differences in the pole legths.

Hi David,
First, thanks for taking the time to record and post your sounds so far with this new beauty (and thanks also to Dave R if he "aided and abetted ?" whatever that means !)
Some very interesting comments, and always fascinating to be privy to the molecular sound dissection skills of those who have to spend a fair bit of time indoors. Out here in Wagga Wagga even the Shads (according to Bruce) had to play in a "tin shed ... 1967 or maybe it was 1966 ??), so, if we get a few notes right and the guitar is more or less red, everyone is happy. Usually after I play Kon Tiki, WL and The Savage, someone comes up and asks "can you do some Shadows tunes ??".
Anyway .. if I was driving home after recording those I would also have a grin .. Not bad for an old Rocker/ Burns era specialist with arthritis !!
PS. Loved the Kon Tiki chords, best I've heard ... and, the rest was obviously one of The Shads out takes.

However, can you post some piccies of the actual recording session, as to my ears there was a definite hint of Tort 4 ply pickguard, and we all know how the different light wavelengths affect the magnetic qualities of the pups ...

(Note to Bob D. ... Board enhancement ... can we have a small tick box scale that indicates blood alcohol level so postings can be interpreted with proper understanding. :D :D )
Cheers
George

Good to hear from you George... this was recorded deep in the heart of Sherwood Forest in Mr Robinson's log cabin, but only the BT. The rest, chords, fluffs etc were all mine. (No Burns was harmed/played in the creation of these demos)...

Do you get authentic reverb in a tin shed? :D

Hi David,
The reverb is great (if you like frisky early reflections !! ) ... unfortunately the reflux is to die for ... what an unfortunate term !!
It is however Shads played in authentic Country style. (See attached as they say ..)

Hi all. Peter I have looked at the Oasis picture and can only see flush poles on the bottom plate. I have also looked at lots and lots of mid to late 50's Strat pole piece stagger's over the week end and cant find any evidence at all that tells me that Fender issued Strats with a flush G pole during this period. From late 56 the G pole became the longest pole of the six. It's a fascinating topic this Peter and I am sure someone will come up with an answer that solves the mystery once and for all. Are you saying you have a late 50's Strat Peter or a CRS Strat? If you do bite the bullet and lift the lid, a couple of pics would be appreciated. Regards Geoff.

I didn't think they made those tractors in Fiesta Red until much later and I really don't like the roadworn distressed finish on the blue paintwork . . . . :P

Hi all. Just a final word from myself regarding this fantastic, looking and sounding guitar, I have email'd Oasis, basically lobying for the Left Handed contingent, and asked if LH versions were discused during the planning stages. Still havent receved a reply , probably never will but never mind. I still think its a great guitar and fair play to Oasis for making it available. Regards Geoff.

Geoff I have sent you a personal message.

I would liketo thank Derek Misslebrook and The Shadders (great band with a really upfront authentic sound) for allowing me the opportunity to try my shiny new "Flamingo Pink" guitar out today at their club meeting.

It was also good to see Jet up on stage for the first time in 3 months and back in fine form. Hopefully on the road to recovery.

Solent Shads Club Today
Thankyou Howard for bringing along this wonderful guitar for all the club members to drool over :D
I must say what some great playing from Howard and what a Showman.........Brill :D

And also a big thanks to Jet Harris for making a giant effort to join us all for the afternoon, and what a surprise when he agreed to play, because Jet had not played for over three months , he was rather nervous, but as soon as the band (The Shadders) counted him in he was off, WOW what some playing it was superb, not even one wrong note, and you could see it was doing him good to be back with the music, Jet played his socks off playing three tunes in all, It was fantastic to see this Legend (who is still having teatment for this dreadfull thing we all fear) get up and perform for us all................Jet your a star.... :D
