Andy,
Yes this is a sample of the famous catalogue !
A few eye openers about Leo are:
His hearing wasn't 100%
Just one eye with sight.
He couldn't tune any instrument
He couldn't play guitar
First in,last out of the factory
When he was a millionaire he only wanted to eat out in a coupon restaurant still.
He liked to have the newest photo-camera
He past away dressed to go to work
He just wanted to give the guitar-players the best guitar possible, inspired by a few guitar-players in a band/orchestra who were struggling to get heard.
In later life he became religious and he told his wife he got a special feeling while he witness that orchestra, and he was convinced it was a god given idea...
He was also convinced that his work was done, because the last guitar on his bench was the perfect one...
The evening before his death the guitar was finished, and Leo told his wife he felt sick, but he was planning to inform the others the next day... how the guitar electronics sup-post to work and how to be build!
Sadly that never happen, the guitar is still in his office, blueprints and all...but the G&L crew haven't a clue how it works and how to build, to this day!
They decide to leave it that way!
So in Leo's mind the perfect (god given)guitar is ready for us .... sadly we will never know...
In a other biography you can reed comments by the kids, they where happy when dad arrived home from the Fender plant, with his pickup full of guitar necks and bodies and amp cabinets that were chipped or damaged while they were sawed or painted etc. to keep the fire going in the heater
Cheers Rob
