Long pointer knob for Guyatone/Antoria

Postby chas » Thu Dec 24, 2009 5:08 pm

Anybody know of a source of supply for the long pointer knob (or similar) used on the Guyatone/Antoria LG50 for the pickup selector? I would imagine most owners of these have already asked the same question............even in black........?
Both my LG50 and LG40 need one!

Hi, Chas,

I might have an answer for you. I certainly have several positive suggestions.

A. Try:
http://www.daviesmolding.com/standard-products/plastic-knobs/pointer-control/default.html

They have something that looks about right (albeit in black) near the bottom of the page and they do a custom "molding" service.

B: See:
http://www.bobsbits.tv/ComponentCat.aspx?catid=22

They definitely have something that might work, circa 80% of the way down the page.

C: See:
http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prodimages/1966-Fender-Electric-XII-Dakota-Red-Refin.jpg

The Fender Electric XII has a pickup (rotary) selector knob that looks very similar to the item on the Antoria (albeit only in black).

If you wanted to, you could get some made to that pattern in whatever colour you want (I have an Electric XII to work from).
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1809&C=Froogle&U=1809&T=Module.

We would, naturally, have to very careful with the Fender knob...

D. You could just wait until Barry G brings out his version of the guitar and see whether he will be able to sell spare parts for it.

Hope some of this helps.

Thanks for that very detailed info. Jim.
I'd already seen the second site, but the first site is certainly very interesting. And many thanks for your generous offer of the loan of the knob from your Fender XII - I'd completely forgotten that guitar had that type of switch knob and also a similar one on some Harmony models I now recall...., but no need to go to that trouble - there's a close enough one on that first site. I've got standard 'chicken head' pointer knob on at the moment, but it just doesn't look right!

All the best over the holiday period, Chas.
