Just had the newsletter from Dolphin. Looks interesting. Will they have 'Valve' watts or 'Solid State' watts though ? And .... what does affordable mean ? Lets hope this is not just an attempt to sell basic 'tranny' amps in a fancy cab at over the top prices.
Check 'em out : http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/article/4 ... 1_20112009

Well it seems to say, they have taken a transistorized AC30 as the base. Fitted a reactor valve system, and aded a couple of other bits. All dressed in a nice looking cabinate.

It could be intersesting. subject to cost. Odds on the first few to purchase will change the silver logo to a gold one.

They are fully transistorised amps, with the exception of the "valve reactor" circuit using a 12AX7 (ECC83) tube.
But unlike the Valvetronix range, they doesn't offer a wide range of emulations, but only AC15 or AC30 emulations. They are indeed modelling amps, but dedicated ones...
If the real AC15 or AC30 were too heavy and expensive for you, here comes the solution !
They look the same, they are cheaper and lighter, and are supposed to sound the same (to be checked...).

Not sure yet they will be sold outside of Japan.

From the Vox website; The new Vox AC30VR and Vox AC15VR are NOT modeling amps. They are bona fide AC30 and AC15 amps. But what do they know . . . ?
