Seen in my local guitar shop.
Is this a good buy or what ?
I'm not a Burns man, I hate em.
Cheers,

Expensive Yule log then, Ecca !!
For what they are (IMO the Burns equivalent of Squier) they are smashing guitars. I had a green one, remember, which I had to modify with a Point Tech bridge cos the original bridge is just horrid and then it played great and sounded - er - well Burnsy. I particularly liked the neck - suited me well. The pickups are (were) cheap bar magnets and not up to the quality of the rest of the guitar.
BUT - I dont think that this original selling price of £399 is a right price for one unless recent Marquees have gone in for some serious upgrading to the Spec since I bought mine - for £100 in 2006.
cheers

Sold mine recently for £100 Ecca. It was a great guitar for the original price of £300. I only sold it when I got a proper grip of my Burns Marvin.

I don't want to buy a Burns to play ..... I just wondered if it would be cheap firewood.

Sorry, no. The name refers to a large tent being set alight.

Hi Ecca,
I had one of the original F.Red Marquees from it's first issue, with the Point Technologies trem. I quite liked it, apart from the neck which was like a log, but it did have quite a nice low action. It cost me £300 new, & although it reputedly had ceramic bar magnet pickups, it sounded quite good. The Trem, with a push-in arm, worked great & was really smooth.
Maybe I was one of the lucky ones. I only sold it, for £200, to a mate about two months ago, as I am trying to reduce my guitar collection to reasonable proportions, & I have an Burns 'Anniversary' Marvin, anyway, so I don't really need the Marquee anymore. I would say that around £200 is about the right price for a good secondhand copy.

Cheers, Tony.

I have a Burns Marquee in white which came from
a certain Mr Martin, which has had the original
trem modified to cure it's ills.

I'm going to be putting it on Ebay and also
a Squier Telecaster Custom!!
