GAS - new (to me) amp...

Postby JimN » 19 Apr 2016, 03:22

Some weeks ago, I disposed of my Fender Twin Reverb and my trusty Peavey Renown amps.

This was done partly to finance the purchase of a Gibson L5, but mainly to create a bit of space around the house.

But...

I could not resist this on eBay at just £165. I'll pick it up in the next few days...

73.5 lbs... I hope I've done the right thing...

Hi Jim

The amp sounds great in the review, but 73.5Ib? . . . . . . does a body-building course come as part of the deal? :D

That's almost identical to a classic AC30TB. And only a tiny bit more than a Twin Reverb...

Still, I can't say I didn't wish it was lighter!

I got the amp, but it never ever set foot inside the house. It stayed in the boot of the car for a bit, then I parked it in the store-room at the Billabong Club in Rochester, where it was understood that anyone could use it at the Tuesday jam nights, whether I was there or not.

But... the Billabong jam was reduced to once per month, and I decided it might be better and fairer to find a new home for the Vox.

So for the last few months, it has been on long-term loan to Ray Liffen's In-Tech recording studio at Carshalton, Surrey.

I have no current plans to reclaim it (space is an issue) but our understanding is that Ray's customers are welcome to use it on sessions.

. . . . . and here's The Dualers (ska/reggae) using it for a recording.
