Double helping of Burns in new Guitar & Bass

Postby RayL » Sat May 15, 2010 12:42 pm

The new (July) issue of Guitar and Bass has a double helping of Burns.

The budget-price Cobra with new smaller Strat-size Trisonics gets a very favourable review and the photographs are of the 'red' version which comes out as distinctly Fiesta!

Those of a delicate constitution would be advised to skip over P.8, where a guy called Nick Packer has hacked around with a Marquee to make what he calls a Basstard - five normal guitar strings and a bass guitar A string in place of the guitar's lower E. This way he can be both a guitar player and a bass player in his band. The middle pickup has been ripped from it usual position and placed horizontally under the new bass string, with a separate output socket. As the sub-heading says, "Guitars aren't holy relics, they're tools" . . . . . .

Chet Atkins did this many years ago on the album "Solo Flights". The guitar was called the Octabass.
