Thanks Bojan

Apologies for the fretboard wood,I only ever use Maple so I am not
well up in the different woods used.

I have emailed Burns to ask if they would supply me an Apache
with a neck same as yours, still waiting for a reply.

Nice to know the price was the same, hopefully they can do the same for me.

If they are offering a fiesta red Apache (which comes with a maple board), then there is no reason why they cannot fulfill your request . . . I hope you get what you want Alan!

I am very interested in the new double six they are offering, but nothing has appeared on Barry's website yet . . .

Cheers,

Well Barry has just emailed me to say that the Apache will come with an
Ebony board and no offer to replace it with Birdseye for me.

He has a spare Birdseye from the first batch but that is £411 extra.

Never mind

Hmm, rather strange. Oh well, at least you tried. But regardless, I'm sure you'll be thrilled to bits with your new noiseless Apache!! When is the date of delivery?

Hi Bojan

No delivery dates available yet,in fact the guitars are not supposed
to be available until June/July.

I am tempted to go for the Fiesta Red 64 reissue now.

Barry will make me a custom Apache in the custom shop to my
spec,but it will cost £1295.

I said I would sleep on it.

Alan,

If what you are being offered is truly a custom version, that is a very good price. My several custom Burns guitars (before the "custom elite" models were issued ) cost usually £2k plus. I also have an original proper custom Apache from the original issue and the limited edition Apache whose run has just finished (Fiesta red and maple board), and I would say it is as good as the old custom made.

All the best,

Nick.

Hi Bojan, I am hoping to purchase a new apache in red and expected a maple neck, but it seems only ebony necks will be available. What are the differences in sound/playability etc, or is there really no difference. Do you think the guitar will be just as good with ebony neck. Any comments would be very much appreciated.
regards, Rover

Hi Rover, well, first of all, I am not at all qualified to answer your question because both my Brason "Strat" and my Apache have maple necks and fingerboards and so I cannot make any comparisons. I generally prefer maple fingerboards, which is why I asked Barry to fit my Apache with a maple board. On the other and, my Rickenbacker has a maple neck with rosewood fretboard because that is what they come with, and I'm fine with it. The Marvins also come with rosewood boards, so again, the noiseless Apaches are altogether different because they will have ebony boards. There are lots of great guitars with ebony fretboards, I believe Gibson uses ebony for many of its Les Paul and perhaps other models . . . There is a slight tonal difference for these different woods, but given all the other variables, from amps, strings, effects, and so on, which are available today, I think it comes down to what you think looks best or feels best, or both -- if you have a choice. If you do not have a choice, then it's even easier. :) :)

Hope this helps.

I may have missed the details somewhere, but is someone able to described the physical differences between
the Burns Marvin and the Apache.
At the moment there is a new 2010 Marvin for sale here in NZ for $1999.
Cheers,
JB

Bojan,

Damn! I knew I should have asked for one with a maple neck back in 1964! It was bad enough that I bought the lesser model with grey scratchplates!
