Pearls and Crazy Diamonds (2002) says "There is one version with tremolo and one without" but I doubt whether that got past the prototype stage. I don't think a tremolo version has ever popped up on ebay, which is a strong indication that it never got into production.
I was interested in the Steer until I tried one in Macaris in the Charing Cross Road. On this particular one there was a vast difference in sensitivity between the pickups, with the bridge humbucker being much louder. I don't know whether that's true of all Steers but soon after that my Hayman 2020H came along (also a Jim Burns design, also with body cavities, but with Re-An pickups that matched each other in volume and of course the amazing 'Vibrasonic Chamber') and I was no longer interested in the Steer.
