Hello All

I found this site today so thought I would have a look.Good site,so here I am.
I have been playing more or less non stop since the late 50's,professionally for many years.I am still playing with a local rock n roll band, mainly early r'n'roll plus we usually manage
to fit in a 30 min Shads spot and why not.We are fortunate to have as our bass player the one and only Alan Jones of Shadows fame.He lives near me on the outskirts of Rotherham
and he is playing as well as ever.I know Dave Robbo knows Alan as he was playing with Daves band "Past Masters"earlier this year.

Gear wise I use a Peavey Rockingham semi aka Gretch 6120 but in my opinion a better instrument. This I use for the really early stuff( Scotty Moore,Carl Perkins,Eddie Cochran et al
Fender Am standard strat and my personal favourite Fender Mexican 50's Fiesta red strat. This is a wonderful guitar.
Amplifiers 2x Laney VC 30's.Again excellent valve amplifiers which personally I prefer to my old AC30.
For echo I use the Zoom G2.1u with Charlie Halls EFTP and for the money I dont think this can be beaten.I may try and find a Magic Stomp or push the boat out for a Q20
Anyway thats all from me for now,I look forward to hearing your comments on the different forums on this site. You never stop learning.
All the best Mick.

Hello Mick,
Welcome to "Shadowmusic", and I hope you enjoy it here. It's a friendly place, although some of the more "techie-minded" Guitarists occasionally get carried away!
I was born in Sheffield, but now live near Lincoln - although "Our Kid" lives "in a village north of Sheffield", where we meet-up most weeks for a bash with our family Band "Life Story". We're essentially a Shads-type Band with some attempts at broadening the repetoire meeting with mixed success. We play "real" gigs from time-to-time to raise money for good causes (We've done a couple for Bluebell Wood, too) and enjoy playing without the pressures of "commercialism".
Say "Hello" to Alan J for me - I was always a fan of his work with The Shads (not getting into who was "the best" Shads Bass player - they were ALL b**ody excellent!) and have had the pleasure of jamming with him at some of the Shadows Guitar Clubs.
Interesting to hear of your Monday night sesions at The Kimberworth. Monday is our normal "bash" night, too - so we might have an "away-night" and come and join-in if that'll be OK.
Regards
Paul

Mick, its a 'hello & welcome' from me too, :D glad you found us, & thanks for your personal introduction......hope you will find some of the topics on here interesting, varied (& some highly amusing  ) & will contribute to them as well.
Please say 'Hi' to Alan for me as well, I managed to have a chat to him at Shadowmania this year, & am pleased to read he is still playing as well as ever.....

Anybody living near Rotherham or anywhere else for that matter, will be afforded a warm welcome at The Kimberworth pub on Monday nights. If you get up and join in,then its a free pint or whatever.Cant be bad can it.I will pass on your regards to Alan J when I see him. However I believe he is down in Surrey next week, meeting up with Bruce re a gig in Holland .

Keep on rockin'
