Has it now been decided that The Gallery (this site) has been formally abandoned, together with its contents?

Well, Jim, we have conferred about this and the problem is the phpBB software that runs this website. They keep updating it, as computer companies are prone to do, and the issue is a lack of so-called ‘backward compatibility’. Think of a favourite old computer program that was designed for Windows 95 but simply will not work under Windows 10. It’s a similar phenomenon.

One phpBB software update some years ago rendered most of this site unusable and it took us (in the person of our Admin supremo, Bob) many hours of burrowing into the code to figure out how to get things back to the way they were. Unfortunately, some bits of the site, including The Gallery, still would not work. Since then there have been further software updates, putting a solution out of reach. We simply don’t have the expertise to resurrect The Gallery.

On the face of it, the future looks bleak. If there is someone out there who knows how the latest version of phpBB works, do please make yourself known and we’ll be happy to co-operate with you in attempting a solution. Meanwhile, we’re sorry to say, The Gallery remains buried where we can’t get at it.
