Wonderful Land - 1st attempt

Finally got round to completing Wonderful Land with my recently acquired Quadraverb Plus

I recorded
it with Mixcraft and no other effects added, feel free to offer any advice and constructive criticism

I'm really enjoying learning to play lead guitar when I get the time, I do realise it's not perfect and
there are probably much better versions on here than mine, but I'm listening and learning.

Great first attempt Ron, needs a bit of EQ and slow down a bit letting the strings ring

Phil thanks for the response, I'm glad you liked it.
Keith would I add EQ through my daw recording software ?
I'm using elixer 10-46's, any thoughts from you and Phil on what gauge of string I should maybe be using, would really appreciate any feedback on this.
Regards Ron...

Yes it was a good first attempt Ron, keep at it and you'll get better as time goes by, nothing wrong with those string gauges either, I used to use heavier strings myself for authenticity but you can get a good sound and still be comfortable with 10/46 and that's what is important.

Hi David, thanks for the feedback, was thinking of trying Elixir 12-52's, I think my fingers might be
able to handle them and I may get nearer to the tone ?
Regards Ron...

Hi Ron, If theres EQ in mixcraft go back and listen to the original (if thats the sound your after) and have a tweak. As Dave mentioned if the strings are comfortable thats what matters you can get slightly heavier as you progress

Thanks for the input everyone, I think I will stick with the 10-46's as I do feel comfortable with them, maybe
try something a bit heavier later on once I have progressed a bit.

Just had another listen Ron after reading what you said. To get the tone closer to the original, if that's what you're seeking, you need to take out the bass probably almost totally. Add some MID in it's place and you will hear the distinctive Hank early tone, it work all the time for me.Try it and let me know if it works for you.
