Tomorrow Never Dies (James Bond Theme). Video

Postby Phil McGarrick » 09 May 2014, 21:10

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) is the eighteenth spy film in the James Bond series, and the second to star Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. Sheryl Crow, sang the theme song .
This is my instrumental version using a BT made by my friend Roger Allcock from his “Backin’the charts” album available here http://www.vintage-sounds.co.uk/cds/ along with the tabs.

I used my Alan Brason Strat fitted with Kinman FV-HMS pickups on bridge position.

Recorded using Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with echoes from the past (EFTP) patch 0-36, PreSonus AudioBox USB sound card and into Cubase on the computer .(No Amp) Dunlop DVP1 foot pedal

Video made using 3x Sony SR12 camcorders and edited with the sound in Sony Vegas pro 9.

Hope you enjoy “Tomorrow Never Dies”

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,
Once again you made a very good job of this track. Love the guitar sound and your technique,
Roger produced a good B/T also.

Hi Fred and Brian - thank you both very much for the nice comments on this one.
I think most of the James Bond themes work well as instrumentals and glad you liked this one.
Kind regards.. Phil

Great playing and sound there Phil.

Now I need to get off my bum and into the studio to record a few backing tracks of my own! I agree that James Bond themes do make good instrumentals and there are several on my list. John Barry really was the master of this sort of thing wasn't he?

Hi Phil
we're back from being soaked and blown about in Somerset and this cheered me up no end!
I can almost imagine HBM playing this - you have the style off perfectly!
Lovely playing, Phil. I really enjoyed the infills in the "intermezzo" bit in the middle too.
Nicely tackled ending. :)
Super BT from Roger - worth buying the CD for this track alone.
cheers

Hi Steve and Ian, Thanks very much for listening and your nice comments.

Steve - I agree John Barry wrote some great themes, this one was co-written by Sheryl Crow and Mitchell Froom according to Wikipedia.

Ian - the "intermezzo" bit I put in to save looking like a total plank in front of the video waiting for the next bit
I remember several years ago now when Roger made the BT and recorded it I felt it should have been on Marvin at the Movies.
I was knocked out by it.Very glad you liked my efforts.

All the best guys.. Cheers Phil

A terrific version Phil and as Ian said, the "intermezzo" section really works well.
