HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL

This one is an real Oddity. It won't be to everyone's taste. But once I heard it, I just had to try it.
Written for the GERMAN Highland Games (oh yes it was!) in 1982, it was recorded by, amongst others, the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Pipe Band – and I LOVE the sound of Baggies (no Ecca, not the football team!).
I like the tune in its original form too which doesn't have too many chords (just majors and minors) but I have gone the whole hog here with the full Orchestration using Band In A Box (what a piece of kit!). I hope you think it works out. The hardest part is to get the massed Pipe Band snare drums to sound anything like right. What you hear is what you get, I'm afraid.
Cheers

Hi Ian - you certainly know how to drive that BIAB ! Yes you've got the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Pipe Band there which mixes perfectly with the great sound of your guitar - I don't know how you dreamed this up but It worked very well and is certainly refreshingly different. Very well done..
Cheers Phil

Your getting very good with BIAB Ian, I enjoyed that but was expecting a big 'middle 8' solo as per Carpenters Goodbye to Love and it never came, perhaps you could try it.

Hi El Planto, I agree with Keith.

The sound of your guitar is first class and a job well done with the tune BIAB etc.

Why don't you try a version with the Pelsall Pirate in full Gibbo / Humbucker for the middle bit.

Start with your orginal "Strat" sound flowing into Ecca's Gibbo bit and back to you.

I can hear it in my head now. OOhh OOhh...................... 8-) 8-)

Play it and they will come. :D :D

Cheers, Alan.

Ace Sliclslockypanties !

I know what you mean about the pipe band feel, Scottish things are tricky to get artificially, I tried to do it on one of my efforts.
I got a drummer pal in in the end who played it for me on his snare.

Hello guys
thank you for listening. It was a real labour of love, was this!
If only BIAB had Bagpipes and Real Snares as a RealTracks I would have been even happier.
No fancy playing in a middle 8 in this one - I wanted it as the original came out.
Thank you.
Ian
