London Kid (Video)

Postby Phil McGarrick » 08 Apr 2014, 16:19

Jean Michel Jarre invited Hank Marvin to play "London Kid" with him on the Royal Victoria Docks, Docklands, London on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9 October 1988, to coincide with the release of Jarre's new album Revolutions. The concerts were attended by 100,000 people on each night. And it poured with rain !!

This is my cover of Hank's part using my Alan Brason Stratocaster with Kinman FV-HMS pickups on bridge position.
Hope you like "London Kid"

Thanks Lynn - I think this song sticks in my mind because the guy I sat next to at work went to the concert and I didn't - not fair  but he did say all the audience got soaked  but it was still a great concert. Many thanks for your nice comments.

Hi Fred - It was great to find a BT after all these years - I've always liked the song a bit different from The Shads/Hanks own compositions.- JMJ wrote it for Hank I bet they had great fun playing it.

All the best.. Phil

Hi Phil
Another Boster !!
Spot on sound and playing.
BT was by the late Renato Vignocchi from his "O Suono Shadows" series.
Cracking job, my friend.
Cheers

Hi Ian - Many thanks for the nice comments always appreciated.
I saw someone from the Italian Shadows community post their version on YT last week and I asked where he got the BT.
He put me onto Leo's Den and I bought Renato's Vol 7 .
Nothing I could do about the clapping it's on the BT !
I've always liked this one since the Destination Docklands concert on 1988.

All the best... Phil

Good version of this Jean-Michel Jarre's tune. Not sure it was a good idea from Renato to put applauses ont his BT.

BTW, Jean-Michel Jarre and Hank Marvin also played this tune in Paris for a TV show in summer 1989, as part of the 100th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower celebration :

No rain this time !

Nice modern Hank sound Phil! and that claps at the beginning make it like live performance.
