"Hank's Shadow" - Original composition in the style of Hank

Hey everyone,

First post here! I just wanted to share this with you all.

It's an original track I wrote/recorded in the style of Hank Marvin/The Shadows I've called "Hank's Shadow". I plan to record a whole series of them in the style of guitarists who've been an inspiration to my own playing style.

This was recorded with my parts built Fender Stratocaster, a VOX AC30C2, and an Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man for the echo.

Hope you like it and would love to know what you think!

First of all Ryan, welcome to Shadow Music.
What a great video and great little tune and good sound, well played too and a refreshing change to see that beautiful sunburst Strat. Looking forward to seeing/hearing more.

Welcome to the ShadowMusic Forum, Ryan.
Well I like that very much!!
Great tone, if a little "warm" :D and just the thing The Shads might have done had they kept to their early style.
The writing style is great too - all the elements are there - changes in register, phrases played through three octaves ( I like that!!) etc.I guess the BT is home made too - what was the system you used? I really good and punchy.
cheers
ian
Good to see a rosewood boarded Strat!! Makes a refreshing change.

Thanks for the response guys!

Yes I wrote, recorded, and produced the entire track - programmed the drums, played the acoustic gtr and bass parts etc. It was all recorded in Logic.

And yes I'm 25!

Great to hear a new tune - loved it from start to finish! Really authentic sound - loved the attack on the notes and agree completely with King Robbo - wonderful to see a beautiful sunburst Strat... Great acoustic guitar tone and eq on the bt too... Nicely done.

Well done Ryan - let's have more!

Best,

Tony

Hi Ryan - I think this is a great idea playing songs in the style of guitarist that have given you inspiration.
This Shadows/Hank style own composition is certainly in the right style with a good sound.
I particularly like your Nile Rodgers style funky disco groove, and Brian May God save the queen covers.
You have a lot of talent and I wish you well with your project.

Cheers Phil

Thank you all for the such positive comments, I'm glad you all think it's authentic (especially as you all have such attention to detail as I do)!

I'd love one day for Hank himself to see it and hear his opinion. I wish there was a 'fan mail' address I could send it to.
