Thoroughly enjoyed the sound file Phil. As usual a great early sound.
Any details on the Strat you've 'just put together' please?
Cheers,
JB

Hi John,
Sure, the neck is a one piece birdseye from Jamerson in the states, body came from Rainbow products UK , 3 piece alder with thin nitro finish expertly applied by Mick Johnson of Reading , who also did the neck, the whole bridge is off an original 62 strat, pickups are Texas specials, strings are Newtone 12 - 52, for this with a wound third,
Best regards,
Phil.

Phil,
Thanks for that prompt response. That's an interesting combination of parts - especially with the texas specials. I (incorrectly, it seems) presumed they'd give a very bright toppy sound. That's certainly not the case.
Have just received a vintage maple neck from Jamerson for a project I have planned. They certainly seem to do a quality job.
My strat will be a little more modest! I'll be using a MIM Classic 50's ( Fiesta Red) alder body with USA gold hardware and 57/62 pickups.
Keep those soundfiles coming.
Cheers,
JB

Hi Gary and john,
The Texas specials can be toppy , its what they are in a way designed for, texas twang , but you can control this with the amp / guitar settings and the way you play them, i like them because they have a slightly more pronounced mid range, which with control of the top end can give a nice full warm sound.
I have found setting them on the low side helps, i think this really applies to most pickups, its all what you hear i guess and what you play them through,
Best ,
Phil.

Hi Phil,

Great sound and playing, as always. Having just listened to the original it makes me think that the first verse is played on the bridge p-u, the rest on the middle. I guess you were playing on the neck p-u?

Anyway, your version sounded splendid!

Best regards
