Hi All,

I did this number 6 years ago,but I didn,t practice it after that, so I had to learn the number again and recorded it today.
Its a wonderful number that is use as a tune in a Korean TV-series.

The, commercial, Tabs and BT was done by Oswald Perera. Thanks Oswald you did a great job on this number. You can reach Oswald on the site of Charlie Hall.

Please enjoy my version 2013 of Winter Sonata

Hi Fred - I felt sure I'de heard this tune before possibly by The Shadows but no - It turned out that several people I subscribe to on YT had played it under the title "Winter Sonata - From The Beginning Until Now". Originally played on a piano I believe. I really enjoyed your version a great sound, BT and very well played.
All the best... Phil

Hi all

Like Phil I too found the tune strangely familiar at first, then realised the first four notes of both the piano intro and the tune on guitar are the same as Hank's "Janine".

Please understand, Fred, this is an observation NOT a criticism. With a scale of 11 semitones it is inevitable that the same sequence of notes will reappear from time to time. I have always been impressed by your recordings, your "feel" for a melody and the sweet, clear sound of your guitar. It seems each of your creations is better than the one before - very well done.

I agree with the perceived similarity to Janine.

The tune is also reminiscent of the (very French) styles of Frances Lai and Pierre Bachelet (each of whom composed music for the "Emmanuelle" films). And it's not a little unlike the work of Lalo Schifrin (who wrote the music for the film "The Fox").

Nice playing, Fred.
