A shame nothing turned up for 1966 and 1967 at least nothing releasable. A shame no one came forward with private tapes.

On Volume 6, year 1969 they played Rise and Fall..., Nivram, , Exodus and Little B as a trío (Brian, John and Alan).
Opinions are welcome.
They sounds rare indeed.

I have received my copies of volumes 5 and 6 last Friday. Once again, a job well done by Dusty Tapes Records.

The recordings from early November, 1969 are very interesting. The eight ones from Croydon differ to those from Tokyo in that Alan Hawkshaw plays organ instead of piano on some of the tracks. The four from Finsbury Park are totally unique, because Hank is absent and so the melodies are played completely by Alan on organ, making them quite jazzy. The same trio of Brian Bennett, John Rostill and Alan Hawkshaw features on Brian's first solo album "Change Of Direction".

Does anyone know if there were any other situations in the history of The Shadows when Hank was unable to perform and the group played without him?

On Croydon show Slaughter on 10th Avenue is very different only one electric guitar and one splendorous organ I presume.

No, on this live version, Hank plays electric and acoustic guitar, just like the live version from Tokyo, but the difference is that Alan plays organ on the Croydon version instead of piano which he played on the Tokyo version.
