"Saturday Night At The Duck Pond" SHADOWS ? ? ?

Postby Stratpicker » Tue Feb 09, 2010 11:21 pm

Was "Saturday Night At The Duck Pond" ever a Shads recording?? :?
I've always played it to Ian McC's SWO5 BT track which is NOT like the Cougars one at the ending so I imagined that it MUST have been by The Shads but I cant find it listed.
Any ideas?
cheers

Hi Ian,

Surely never released by the Shadows, but I cannot tell about any treasures in the Abbey Road vaults.

The Shadows never recorded "Saturday nite at the duck pond" (it was spelled like this on the original 1963 release by The Cougars).
Many groups are playing it, particularly The Rapiers. May be that McC's BT is based on their version.

Hi Slipslapper

Ian McC's BT is based on the Cougars as you can read from his "sleeve notes" at: http://shadowsworkout.ucoz.com/index/0-10.

p.s. you missed the cobs and pork pies last night.

It says : "I have included two non-Shadows tracks: "Saturday Night At The Duck Pond" - the Cougars famous hit from the sixties,..."
Which doesn't mean that he stricly followed their arrangement...
