May that it was true at this time, but better that expected sales for the DVD made the publishers change their mind...

Dont understand the logic there.
If youve already paid for a copy of the thing in DVD why spend more for the blu ray?
Surely from a marketing/profit point of view it would have been better to market the blu ray first or alternatively release both versions at the same time and let the buyers choose.
Most films released onto the home video market now employ this strategy.
Personally, I think theyve blown it.

BTW did you know that the actual production cost of a blu ray disc is in the region of $1.20 (around £1.00 or so) on runs of 25000.

Wonder where all the extra profit goes!

That's not the point. If it was unknown whether a blu ray version was going to be released, that's the way it should have been stated. Instead it was claimed that there was no possibility of a blu ray version, so inevitably some people bought other versions instead.

That's not the point. If it was unknown whether a blu ray version was going to be released, that's the way it should have been stated. Instead it was claimed that there was no possibility of a blu ray version, so inevitably some people bought other versions instead.

There are two possibilities :
Either they had no plans to release it on Blu-Ray and said so, then changed their mind, seeing that there was a market large enough for a Blu-Ray version.
Either they had plans to release it on Blu-Ray from the start, but didn't say it, hoping to sell the DVD first, the selling again the Blu-Ray.
We have no clues about which of these two possibilities is the right one...

I don't have yet an HD TV, neither a Blu-Ray player, but when I'll have them, I certainly will buy the Blu-Ray release, although I already bought the DVD (unless of course if reviews showed that the Blu-Ray version is not bringing the expected increased image quality)

I'd do the same for the Shadows' Final Tour recording if ever it was released on Blu-Ray.
After all, I bought many Shadows' audio albums on CD, although I already had them on vinyl !

May be that if the "Final Reunion" sells well on Blu-Ray, it will push to release the "Final Tour" on Blu-Ray also...

Don't forget that in addition to the improved picture quality, hopefully it will be uncompressed Dolby True HD and for me that's as good a reason (if not a better one) for shelling out for a Blue Ray than the improved pic.

Cant wait

Nah...they'll keep the uncompressed audio for the next issue! .. (then you'll have 3 copies  )

Now heres a thought.. imagine you sold 5000 copies of a DVD..thats 5000 less copies youre gonna sell of a blu ray.
Lets face it only the real diehard fan is going to shell out the extra for a new disk.
The casual fan of cliff/shadows is only going to buy one copy and the way its been marketed thats the DVD.
If the blu rays are not on sale or return theres going to be quite a few at a knockdown price in 6 months time.

From Leo's Den... just now...

Hi David,

We have just received the email below from the “Final Reunion Tour” DVD company. From reading the earlier thread on the Community site it mentioned a donation to ShadowMusic, not sure if you knew it had been cancelled. Didn’t want to mention anything myself on the thread and thought perhaps you had more details.

Regards

Pat

That's a real shame - on reading the earlier comments I really thought we were in a for a treat - now appears not to be the case!
